Dumb question on Sansui 8080 and 9090 models

I have a dumb question I think:
When considering the purchase of a Sansui amongst these models:
8080
8080db
9090
9090db
Which one is the better one to purchase, with or without "db"? Or does it matter that much? I'm looking at one that's the 9090. I just like the sound of the Sansui units and have been waiting to find one.

They say the ones with DB the Dolby on the tuner breaks a lot but I have 9090DB and so far it is perfectly working

9090db has the biggest resale value, if you don't care about resale value, then they all can sound excellent. 9090db is the most impressive and the non db's may be less maintained involved. Still all can get old sounding quick if not working properly.

Thanks everyone. Thanks CDFixer for all the detail. I think sound-wise, I'd be happy with any of the 8080/9090 models. Of course, right now owning a Sansui is merely a dream, that may never come true unless I find one at a fair price and first thing I would do is have my tech go through it. Finding a 8080/9090 db or non-db local is the challenge.

Hi Anibus,

There are great prices now on the 8080s. There are also some other great sounding models that are going for very low prices. It depends on how much power you need to drive your speakers. I'm using an 881 receiver that's rated at 60 watts (I think) but when tested, it was putting out 78 watts per channel. My Klipsch speakers are very efficient. I can't get the volume up much without shaking my room. I remember that last year anything 9090 was selling at ridiculous prices. This year the powerful G models are in demand. Prices change from year to year. The 881, though, is still one of my favorites. The best thing is to have one of each!
