Dusting dust covers?

I picked up two pioneer turntables a while back for $40.00 each. PL-A35 & PL112-D. Both in great shape. The dust covers are pristine. Now, in my house they gather dust. As a teenager I use to just wash my dust covers with whatever was handy. I do not want to scratch or cloud these. I Would like to hear what all of you do to dust/clean your dust covers?

I use a Swifter.

If I’m going to be gone for awhile or won’t use the TT for a few days, I put a dishcloth on top.

I recommended never wiping them dry. For a good cleaning, I run my PL-550 cover under the shower head first, then towel dry. For more frequent dusting, I use a clean, wet terry cloth towel to wipe the dust off the top. My TT is 40 years old this year and the cover still looks very nice. I used to cover mine when I heated with wood and lived near granaries(dusty) but, that no longer applies.

DustBuster. Twice a month, Damp fiber free cloth, Buff with a dry one. Make sure, Tear that label off!

Don't use Windex or any other cleaner with ammonia. It may cloud it over time.

Like eyeglasses, don't use a dry cloth, and don't use a paper towel.

Use a damp, all cotton cloth. I also use a swifter and it does seem to be ok if the dust is not "grit" from dirt blowing in from outside (most household dust is human skin....).

Wipe over with a decent quality, damp microfibre cloth and then finish with a dry microfibre cloth.

I use a classic feather duster with ostrich feathers. These are awesome for dusing off stereo components in general.

I use a feather duster then, if I need to, spray with foam window cleaner and microfiber cloth. My Rega P3 is a year old and no scratches using this method.

It would be odd for me to use a feather duster, as 99% of the dust here is from my parrots. And most of that is from the two small male cockatiels, Gin and Tonic.. Very dusty creatures.

Ostrich feathers are used because they have natural properties that lend themselves well to dusting. A duster with Parrot feathers probably would not be recommended.

I've also taken mine and filled a tub with water then used a micro fiber cloth wet to clean it off under water. Then used a dry one afterwards
