Dynaco A-250 any info are they Rare?

Hi I picked up these Dynaco A-250's. Can't find a lot of info on them. Seem to be made around 79 or 80 I think after Dynaco sold to ESS. They don't have seas drivers no drivers are marked except for tweeters are polydax, 3" mid-range is just stamped Japan, woofers are stamped with date Oct 26 1979 and a model number 680-1118 supposedly gefko? Just trying to confirm I have right drivers and cabinets are well made.

Trying to confirm types of drivers in there to make sure I have original drivers like I said they have no name on them so I'm just trying to figure out what's in there is right

Based on pics (post #13) in this linked thread it looks like your drivers are indeed original, as to who made them that seems to be a mystery

They may not have the SEAS driver's of the older dynaco's made in Denmark. These are made in Massachusetts. The cabinets are well made, crossover is sloppy looking but well made and they sound very good. And they seem pretty rare because nobody knows much about them and it doesn't seem like there's many out there. I got them for $50 so I happy about that.

Dynaco was quite successful in the late 70s. The 80s were not kind to firms that manufactured and marketed stereo equipment. Tastes changed, currency fluctuations impacted importers and many manufacturers incorporated design changes and introduced new products to cut costs. Many smaller firms closed and larger brands changed ownership ... multiple times. I think that all of these things happened to Dynaco at different times. The A-250 dates to this period of constant change.

Yes, they are rare. And they are well worth keeping. I had a pair of these that I worked my magic on, and wish I'd never sold them.

These speakers had good ingredients when they were made : Gefco woofers with rubber surrounds, CTS midranges, and SEAS tweeters. The crossover has three air cored inductors, which tend to be more expensive than iron cored ones.

How do they sound? Well, I have a pair of the original Mission 770 speakers, which are one of the pairs that I will never sell. It's hard to describe their sound without getting into descriptions of timing, detail, depth and imaging. These Dynacos sound pretty close to my Missions, which is no mean feat. In fact, with the adjustable crossovers the Dynacos have, you can tweak the sound a lot more than with the Missions, so at times you can make them sound "better".
