Dynaco - input compatibility

Hello!

I am the original owner (and builder) of a Dynaco PAS-3x, ST-70 and and solid state FM-5. Built them back in 1970 and loved that system dearly! ok, fast forward 50 years.. i recently pulled all of them out of mothballs and am firing the system back up again. I am currently trying to determine if there is a suitable way to connect a blue tooth receiver into the AUX input on the FM-5 (lousy FM reception where i live now) and feed music from my iphone into it that way. i know that the quality of sound from the dynaco is phenomenal, but i have no idea what condition the signal is in coming from today's MP3 players, iphones, etc. Anyway, does anyone have any idea what type of device or signal is or is not compatiblewith the auxiliary input on the back of the tuner? I have tried both blue tooth receiver and direct wired from iphone, but getting some distortion.. most of my inputs on the pas 3x are taken, but is there a better option there for this purpose?

Any help/direction would be appreciated.

Is there a specific reason you want (need?) to use the Aux input of the tuner rather than directly to the PAS-3x?

Going that way (through the tuner) appears to add another (almost certainly unnecessary) gain stage to the signal path of the bluetooth setup.

I believe the output signal is a headphone signal ( I have a dumb phone) which is essentially a Line level signal, so using the Spare input on the PAS3 should do just fine. Set the output level on your devices to match the tuner signal level and you are ready to enjoy.
