Dynaco Speaker Grill Badge

A short note about Dynaco Grill Badges.

My recently aquired A25's were in near mint condition, all walnut veneer showroom condition with Grill cloths in very good shape. No nicks, dents, scratches or marks on any part of the cabinet's wood finish. All orginial with Seas speakers. Only problem was that one of the Grill Dynaco Badges was missing.

At first I went to a Trophy Shop to see about getting a badge made up out of Brass. Problem was the cost of artwork for the Dynaco script was $30 alone bringing the cost of a replacement to over $30 for one, of course if you do mutiples the price would be reasonable. After some thought I decided to photocopy the orginial badge and try printing copies on heavy stock photopaper. I scanned the badge and printed a few copies. I pasted it on the speaker grill using a sticky glue stick.

Results are pretty good, comparing the two the main thing you notice is the lack of reflection from the brass. Maybe I'll take the orginial off the one speaker and replace it with a printed one so they both match.

Attached is a 200 DPI scan I used, I did a paste and copy to print a mutiple copies on one piece of photocopy paper.

I have the same problem with my infinity Qb's. Lost 1 logo. And I was looking around for a while.

Seems that the cheaper good solution are some Laser printed Indentifiers, that are plastic with a metallic finish, and are not expensive to do only 2 pieces.

I don't know the name in english, here is a link to a picture (no affiliation).

Also transferring a Xerox copy to any metallized paper or plastic is an option. (you can transfer the toner to another surface using some thinner or solvent. Check what solvent should you use)
Xerox toner will adhere to some materials and not to others.

Bingo!!

I have a couple of these Dynaco badges I pulled off a set I parted out. they had been sitting on a dirt floor in the basement of a house for yrs and the cabs were beyond repair.

PM me your address and I'll get it in the mail this week.

Pretty sure they were A25, badge is approx 1.25 inches long.

Wow what I generous offer, E-Mail on the way.

Love this site and the people using it, a great resource to us all!

There is a source I believe on eBay that has repro Dynaco badges. I bought a pair and they are very nice.

Badges! We don't need no stinking badges!

Anyone who needs repro badges should PM delihaus.

Sstring - thanks for posting the scan. I had the same idea, but with no badge to scan, started searching the 'net and your post was exactly what I needed.

What you paid for them is irrelevant. A very nice pair of "refreshed" A25s, including badges, is worth $150. Sooooo...$30 for the A25s and $25 for the badges is $55.:thmbsp:
