Having rediscovered my love of proper audio gear I have been building a stereo stack in the bedroom focused mostly on early 90s Pioneer gear. This is what is currently in the stack or on the way.
Pioneer SX-251R Stereo Receiver ($17 Goodwill)
Pioneer PD5700 Compact Disc Player ($5.99 Goodwill)
Pioneer PD-M601 Multiplay Compact Disc Player ($9.99 Goodwill)
Pioneer Elite DV-46AV DVD/SACD Player ($9.99 Goodwill)
Pioneer CT-W403R Stereo Double Cassette Deck ($22 Ebay)
Pioneer GR-555 Stereo Graphic Equalizer (If and when the seller ships it)
Technics SB-S25 Bookcase Speakers ($8 Goodwill)
I made a decision to do a receiver upgrade to something more significant. Hopefully I have a working Pioneer VSX-D1S on the way to me. I will be delighted to have all the extra inputs for sure. The SX-251R will revert to backup status.
This will be run in stereo mode only for the time being. I suspect the Technics speakers would be destroyed in about 5 minutes if I put them on the front channel of the D1S, and they don't sound that great anyway.
I'm looking for recommendations to use as main speakers for this, within quite a limited budget of $300 US. I understand the front channels are 130WPC, so I need something that can cope with being pushed a bit and not self destruct.
Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks
Richard
