Ebay Shipping Issue

Hi,
So after much debate I finally pulled the trigger and ordered an phono cartridge BIN through Ebay. The seller has something like 12,000 feedbacks so this is high volume outfit.
Part of the deal was free shipping via USPS first class. I was provided a tracking number and item shows recieved in my zipcode yesterday. Problem is I did not recieve item.
Question what would be my next best move ? Contact seller immeadeatly ? 1st go to post office then contact seller ??

Does it show "delivered" to you or "arrival at Post Office"? It's probably best to contact post office with the tracking number. Once the seller puts it in the mail he can do nothing.

If the online tracking doesn't say "Delivered", then it hasn't been delivered yet. Yesterday was Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, when the PO has to deliver two days worth of mail in one day. I'd give it a day or two. It's too early to panic.

Yep.

It does show delivered... What seems a little fishy to me is that it shows delivered to my local PO yesterday at 7:57 and delivered to my zip at 1:15. I was home when the carrier was making kis rounds, did not hear a knock at the door, I was waiting.
What also has me concerned is the carrier was a sustitute, thinking it may have went to the wrong address and really hoping it would have come today. Obviously this is not the case, just wondering if I shoulf contact seller now to let him know there is a snag.
I know that once the item is shipped it is out of the sellers hands/ To me it seems of I was to ship a bunch of items at 240 a pop I would want a signature for proof of delivery. They do sell a tn of these, they list them BIN in quantites of 10. There really was not a shipping option, it was included with the sale. As I stated I understand it is not in sellers hands, but seller dictated method of shipment. I have to believe there is some liability there.

Well, actually in the world of eBay and Paypal it is...

They view it as the Seller's responsibility to deliver the goods to you and that includes insuring it against loss and damage. they certainly can and do charge you for it, but should you not get your goods there are ways to address it with both eBay and Paypal should the seller not cooperate.

They can disclaim until they're blue in the face, but the eBay reality is that they are liable.

Delivered to your zip code means the main post office for that zip code. Delivered to your local PO means trucked from the main post office for your zip code to your local post office, from which it will be delivered to your house.

Nobody is disclaiming anything. You haven't even spoken to the seller. If you did, he would tell you to wait a few days. It's the holiday mailing season. If you don't receive it in a reasonable amount of time, then you won't have to pay for it.

Everybody calm down.

No I have not spoken to anybody yet... I am just looking for advice on how to proceed from this point. I guess if it does not show Monday I will go to PO with tracking # and go from there.
My concern is when do I get seller involved ? I know their responce will be "item showed delivered". They had a 99.8% positive feedback, 1 of the negatives was from buyer who did not recieve their goods, that was sellers responce.

It's not realistic to get concerned if it's been less than 5 days since the item was mailed. We're in the beginning of the holiday shipping rush, and we're in the middle of a 3-4 day holiday weekend.

If the seller did not send the item "Signature confirmation required", then it doesn't matter what shows on the PO's web site, and it doesn't matter if the PO shows that it's been delivered. If you don't receive it, you will get your money back.

The seller has 12,000 feedbacks. He gave you a tracking number.

Everything will be fine. Really. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

As long as USPS doesn't show delivered on the tracking then they can still show up .

With the Holiday it could of been on the wrong delivery van today . USPS will show out for delivery on the tracking most times IIRC .

If the USPS shows delivered then make a trip down there and talk to them ..

Monday afternoon after the mail comes if it's not there would probably be a good time to start. Like the others have said; it's been a busy week.

I know their response will be "item showed delivered". They had a 99.8% positive feedback, 1 of the negatives was from buyer who did not receive their goods, that was sellers response.

Well, it may be but that doesn't mean you're out of luck. Ask/tell them to file a loss claim with the USPS to get the ball rolling, but you may have to wait 30 days as per USPS policy before they'll accept it. You could take it upon yourself to inquire at the Post office yourself too as that may be the most effective route, at least towards locating the package.

If the seller does stonewall you, start the ball rolling with Paypal; he'll listen to them, or get charged back.

But hopefully this all will be a moot point come Monday afternoon after your package arrives.

Good Luck!!

If they have a tracking number that shows delivery, you're probably out of luck unless the seller is feeling generous. I have had this happen to me before, where it was clearly delivered somewhere, but not to my place. It sucks.

Well,
Bad news.... I talked to my regular carrier today and there was an substitute working on Friday the day it was supposed to be delivered. I also went to the PO and talked to a supervisor and he had only the same information to work with that I see when doing a trackin inquiry... He did say that he would speak to the substitute carrier but personally I do not think much will come of that.
So I went ahead and contacted seller, they verified the item was sent to correct mailing address. I advised them to file a loss claim with USPS per Andyman's suggestion...
Damn I was so looking foward to using this on my D & R turntable I have had for the past 6-8 months

Don't panic just yet! (Actually, don't panic at all.)

Having been down this road (with UPS, and possibly a substitute delivery driver), I'd say "talk to your neighbors". Chances are very good that one of them has your item and may not even know it yet.

I found the computer that had been delivered at a house a few blocks down the road. So I called up the folks that live there, explained the situation and answered their questions. They were as bewildered as I was, especially since the package didn't have my name on it! :)
