Econowave Info

My JBL 364914 waveguides (6x6") finally showed up on the front porch today.

Am I correct in remembering that these use the standard E'Wave crossover?
Thus far, yes; we never know for sure 'til a bunch get built and measured by different members in their projects.

[Cute litte guys for $6 each, no? :thmbsp: ]

Here is my 2 cents. Yes the Ewaves are very flat off axis and all that other tech stuff....BUT...for me, the driver/wave guide combo sounds sooo good. I have had all the other old horns and these do not sound horny or honky at all. Very detailed, great dynamics, warm and rich sounding with tubes, great sound staging, and don't break up at high volumes. I was skeptical at first but had a pair of ESS AMT 1Cs laying around without the Heil tweeter so I did the Ewave thing with them and am still astonded at how good they sound. I bought the ESSs for $220 just for the Heils to use on my big system and I have about $150 into drivers/horns/crossover parts. Can't be more satisfied. Cheeers.

Good. I've got a pair of cute little Cerwin-Vega D-1's, with tweeters that I don't particularly like, that are in for something of a shock. And if their cute little (newly refoamed) 8-inch woofers don't measure up, they're in for yet another shock that may include some Dayton woofs suggested by Herr Newman.

Hey Paratima, I have always like the bass sound of the CV and think they will make a great Ewave project. Post in the Ewave thread, pics of your project. Cheers.

which of your ar-4x creations do you think came out the best? I have 3 pairs!!!!!! would like to try it!

The pair on the right! I'm more than a little biased though...

I have built three pairs of EconoWaves that are keepers.
Try it. You will like it!

I have been building fullrange speakers for few years but now would like to try EW to run with my t-amp clone for classical orchesteral music.

Could u recommend a combo set? minimal ready made crossover will be good, can solder.

Many thanks to all. After consulting via pm with Zilch, I'm considering a conversion on my friends set of L88's. He was thinking of converting to a threeway ala L100. I believe the econo wave will be a better alternative.

Way better.:thmbsp: Did you ever build?
