I would appreciate some advice. I just acquired a Eico AF-4 a couple of months ago from a guys house that had passed away. He appeared to take good care of his equipment, but I have not tried to turn on the amp. I was thinking about making it a project to learn about Tube amps, but seeing the AF-4 going on Ebay today for over $500 with a few hours left has changed my mind. I have a bunch of high end Pioneer equipment I want to buy, and looks like this will pay for it. What I wanted advice on is, should I invest $100 in a vintage amp shop to look at it let me know if the key components are still working. Also the original Eico tubes are still in there, so hoping they still work. Or, should I invest a couple of hundred dollars and have them bring it up to ready to use condition, new caps, cleaned and anything else required. Or, because many Power amp guys like to DIY, should I just sell as is. Which one will extract the greatest profit. Any advice is appreciated.
