ELAC F5 Tower Speakers Are Good Performers!

This is not a review,I'm just sharing my finding with ELAC F5 Speakers for the people who might be interested in ELAC F5 Small Towers.

I started noticing Mr.Jones work when he was with TAD/Pioneer, one time I had a chance to listen to TAD R1 Speakers that I fall in love with it and started paying more attention to his work. My dream pair of speakers are TAD R1 speakers that designed by A.Jones and Also enjoy listening Pioneer SP-BS22LR Speakers in my second system.

Packaging was not that good for shipping tower speakers, one of my speaker box came with a hole that made two inch long scratch on side of the speaker cabinet.(No Double Box here)
I removed the grill from the tweeter.

Nicely and decently constructed tower speakers.

I did break in with iPod in my second system playing continuously for 24 hour for two day.

I moved them to my main system for more listening section this weekend.

2 Channel Music listening started with some of my favorite music ( Metallica to Diana Krall and every genre in between) and I found these speakers do pretty good with all kinds of music as a good speaker should but I found it voicing is on dark side for sure, Bass is very good for the speaker in this price.
I would appreciate a little more extended highs but still very much enjoyable musical speakers.
These are the most exciting entry level tower speakers and a lot of people will be very happy with it price and performance.

I also would be happy with these speaker in my 2nd system or in my home theatre, I will be making my decision when I received Fluence Signature speakers for my home theatre in next a few weeks.
Happy Listening!

HI, I notice you own the Ascend Sierra NRT towers- can you comment on how the ELAC speakers compare? I'm considering both so I'd be really curious for your thoughts. Thanks.

Hi Conrad, to me each of it's own and I can be happy with these speakers in my second system but I wouldn't trade Ascend towers for any speakers until I can afford my dream speakers in my main system.

You know it's not fair to compare $500+ speakers to $2k+ Speakers but I will do it anyway, ELAC F5 overall sound quality is great if you are not after ultra detail high resolution sound but don't get me wrong it's all there just not as define as Ascend towers in all frequency range, different presentation.

F5 speakers produce non fatiguing warm sound(some may say dark) and Ascend towers produce bigger soundstage, much better definition and much more define bass as it should be given 3 times the price of F5 speakers. Most standout differentiating sound quality is mid range because Ascend Sierra towers are hard to beat in that region, even in much higher price range in my opinion.

I think you should try to audition it and decide base on your experience because everybody have different taste.
And I wonder what kind of speakers A.Jones will make for $2000 MSRP for a pair of tower speakers.

Here is the quote that I'm totally agreed with Part-Time Audiophile review.
"These ELAC speakers are the best that I’ve heard at anything like their price, and they are my new default recommendation in the “affordable audio” zone. The sheer quality of the sound, and the enjoyment I took with my time with them, earns them an Editor’s Choice Award. It also garners them a shot at Product of the Year."

Hope this help for you, cheers!

Here is my sound demo on YouTube.

Next to Ascend towers.

thank you- that's what I figured-- and I'm basically about to pull the trigger on the Sierras but was curious for the comparison
