ELAC Miracord 10H Repair

Ive got a question for those who have tinkered with their Miracord 10H's. I finally got mine up and running last night, and found that it works flawlessly; except that when the stacking spindle (the one for LP's & 78's, not 45's) is inserted. To start I'll put a couple (i tried with 3) of LP's on the spindle, then press the 12" button. The tt will drop the first record and place the needle where it needs to be, then play through that first record flawlessly. However, when the first record is done, the needle is lifted up and out of the way, the second record drops, but instead of placing the needle back on the record; it lowers the tonearm down on the cradle and shuts the motor off. I tried the repeat mode (where you put the short spindle in the center of the tt pointed end up) and that mode works perfectly, but i cannot get the tt to play through a second record on the stacking spindle. My questions are:

-Has anyone had this happen with their Miracord 10H?

-The stacking spindle did not come with the tt, are there different variations of this part that look similar but only work with certain Miracord products?

-Also as a side note, is there supposed to be a grounding wire on these tt's?

Welcome to the AK zoo! As I have a 10h(in storage), a770h, a 50h & a seized-up 760, I'd have to get the 10h out of attic, warmed up & try that. Afaik, they all used same multi-play spindle, but don't know about the 760. Have you serviced that thing yet? you may have 50-year-old grease hanging something up. I'd recommend doing that if you're so inclined. Stay tuned, I'll get back to \you, but give me a couple days. P.s. All tt's from that era should have a ground wire, connect to ground lug/screw/post on back of amp/receiver. Helps kill hum from line voltage.

Ok, Joe, I went a-diggin' in the attic a little while ago. Got my 10h out, plugged it in after pulling the platter for a quick inspection. I then inserted a stacker spindle, threw on 2 junk lp's, & hit the 12" go button. I manually moved the tonearm with the stylus guard down across the lp to simulate a complete play. Cycled thru like it should. Dropped the 2nd one, repeat process, ops check good. Yours may be gummed up or have something missing/bent/ out of alignment, or maybe an incorrect or damaged spindle. Btw, no ground wire on mine either, but if & when this thing goes back on active duty, I may put one on just for shiites & grins. I'd have trouble trusting an internal ground thru one interconnect cable, only because I've not heard of that being done before. Send a pic of your spindle so we can verify its right for your tt.

Thanks for the advice Catman; I pulled the entire tt mechanism apart, then cleaned and re-lubricated everything. It solved the second record play issue, but now the tt will not shut off when it is done with the stack. It will keep replaying the last record until you manually stop it. The Stop button just makes the unit cycle and start the current record over again. I think I may have something misaligned in that control gear. Would you guys have any suggestions of things to be aware of? Also, the tt does have a little hum to it, so I may run a wire from the grounding lug under the motor board down to my receiver.
