Elac Miracord 50H glitch

i just acquired one of these, fitted with a Shure M44E, and like the sound (and the looks) very much. The machine has one odd problem: about 10-15 seconds into each LP, it skips/sticks. If I pick up the tonearm and move it past that point, I plays through for a while, then reaches another point on the disc (about 2/3 through the side) and skips a lot for about 30 seconds before playing just fine again. I found this thread on a 40H: https://audiokarma.org/forums/index...-skipping-at-certain-spot-all-records.683402/ My problem is quite similar. Seems to have been a tone arm wire problem in that particular case but wondering if you all have additional or other counsel?

Sobsey, did you read the entire thread you linked in your post? The corrective action was a thorough cleaning of old, dried up grease and a new application of lube.

I'd check the clearance of the cueing lever, and the clutch adjustment of the tone arm.(the clutch is what controls the tone arm movement during auto cycling, and if too close, will cause skipping. My 2 cents.
