Electro Voice CrossOver help needed

Hi All,

I was hoping to get some help in regards to an old 2 way crossover I am trying to repair. I am a novice at this but it seems to have minimal parts... The Woofer lost all its lows. I swapped the woofers between the 2 cabinets and the Woofer sounds great in the other one, so I know it is the crossover.

After looking at the crossover I seen the 20W 10 Ohm J resister had fell of the board. I replaced the resistor with the exact same one and I am still getting no lows. My next step is to replace the Caps but I cannot seem to locate an Axial MET 1.2J 100v for purchase. My guess is that they do not make them anymore?.. again a guess.

Could someone recommend a replacement capacitor for this crossover for me.

Please feel free to tell me I am going down the wrong path if you think it might be something else on the board.

Many thanks in advance.

In addition to replacing the 1.2uFd capacitor, as long as you're in there, it wouldn't hurt to replace the white sand cast resistor as well. Be aware resistors can generate heat so it's best if they don't contact the circuit board directly.

Can't thank you all enough for taking the time to helping me. Could someone explain or send me a link to educate myself on the 1.2uf... What I mean is that the cap states 1.2J (joules I assume). Why would they put J instead of uF?

Again, trying to educate myself.

Bypass the crossover and see if you still have no lows. Unless the woofer coil is bad, there's not much there in the crossover that's going to make the bass sound "low" short of it being a bad woofer which you've already established it's fine in the other. That smaller coil, cap, and resistor are most likely all for the tweeter filter.

1.2 is microfarads....aka uf....aka mfd. The "J" could mean it's a 5% tolerance cap, etc., or be what material it's made from.

Guys and Gals, Success! Thank you all for the help!

It took a little time to get to the speakers location and fix but the Resistor what the main problem.... then come to find out someone had engaged the 10x on the crossover.... was not me but had me tracking stumped for a while.

Thanks Again!!!!!
