Electro Voice EV-6-B's with a twist

Picked these and some advents up from an awesome gentleman who I originally went to buy a box of reel to reel tapes from, couldn't pass up the deal which was $100 for both.(I may be bragging a little here, I've searched for a deal on good speakers hard for a few years before luck finally shone upon me) they both just need refoaming (and maybe caps)

The twist, they have University Mid Ts in place of the original tweeters, From what I gather it's a pretty well regarded horn, I think it should be a pretty interesting combo when I finally get them fixed up. Cabs are near me mint, one small little dent on the trim by the bottom of the grill on one or themPXL_20220816_192814588.jpg PXL_20220816_185546191.MP.jpg PXL_20220827_054921205.jpg PXL_20220827_042125315.jpg PXL_20220827_041109660.jpg PXL_20220817_044246101.MP.jpg PXL_20220826_201354955.jpg

The woofer surrounds are apparently an odd size, thought I found some that would fit after a lot of searching, they were Chinese so I was skeptical, came today and they were thick rubber and 1/4in off on the inside roll. I decided it's gonna be a no to using cheap Chinese stuff after that, so I emailed, I believe his name was Paul, at Springfield speaker earlier tonight. Hopefully he can help me get the proper surrounds. I know I should probably do the caps on these too, I'll need to set up a stand out in the driveway to get inside and see what I need for replacements because these are absolutely stuffed with itchy yellow insulation. Unless any of you fine folks can help me out there.

Curious what people think of the modification these went through, whoever put them in did a good job of it.

N-95 for working with the fiberglass, eye protection, long sleeves and nitrile gloves too. Quite a few of the guys I used to work with doing insulation installs developed lung problems. I was the only one that wore a dust mask on that crew.

Love that grille!

Oh yeah, I'm an electrician (well, laid off ATM and enjoying the free time it gives me) and I've spent a lot of time in attics and walls with the stuff. It definitely isn't fun without protection.

I love the grills too! they're in perfect shape. I had to be extra careful taking them off because they're nailed on, I removed the nails and probably just gonna put Velcro on the back so if in 30 years or so when they need work again they'll be easier to remove. Really excited to hear them. Hopefully tomorrow I'll hear back from Springfield speakers soon. I gotta imagine they could at least cut a surround they currently make to the proper measurements. Apparently 9 7/16ths cones are an odd size.

You have a really nice set of speakers there. Fix them up and I'm sure you will be impressed. Let us know how they sound!

Electro-voice Mid Century Mahogany Aristcrat III, mint pair.

I definitely will update when I get them fixed.
The Aristocrats are beautiful, I've day dreamed about finding a pair quite a bit lol. I wish mine had those cool cast drivers like the aristocrat and other EV speakers. Seems I've developed quite the speaker addiction the last couple of years, at this rate I'm gonna need a bigger house
