Electro Voice EV Sentry 1A, looking for info and value

Hey guys, my first post... I recently acquired 2 pair (total of 4 speakers) of the Electro-Voice EV Sentry 1A speakers. I was told these had been used in a local classic music FM station that recently upgraded. I've opened one, to check the condition and took some pictures.. See the pictures in my public album at:

The front grills look great on each of the 4 speakers and each has the original, undamaged, logo plate. The cabinets have some scuffs and scratches on the ends but the rest of the finished parts of the cabinet look pretty good. The back has several screw holes where it appears these speakers were screwed to the wall in thier previous installation.. I have not connected the speaker to an audio source as I wasn't sure if these are 4ohm or 8ohm etc and didn't want to take a chance of damaging anything until I knew more about them..

I'm curious as to whether these were/are considered quality speakers and to get some idea of thier value.. I really have little use for these large speakers so I do intend to sell these to someone who can use them but I've got no idea what they might be worth...

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated..

I mixed a lot of records on Sentry llA from the mid 60's to the late 70's. Back then, they sounded a lot like the Altec 604E monitors. Mostly used in radio stations, a few recording studios also used the Sentry l and ll. Nice find!

Thank You.. Yeah, I figured these might be dated to the 70's or so but I wasn't sure.. for there age, they appear to be in pretty nice shape, I was especially surprised to see how clean they were on the inside... Do you think it would be safe to connect these to an 8ohm output of a 60w amp? I've been hesitant to connect them as I don't want to take a chance of damaging them but I would like to hear how they sound..

Yes, they are 8 ohm and easy to drive. Just a few watts will get you in the high 90 dB. Feed them good clean power and they'll do 100+. Very flat and accurate sound.
The weakness in those are the joints of the cabinets loosen and buzz. Glue dries out and lets go. Post coming on the repair of mine. I acquired two pair several years ago. Rebuilding now for my workshop system. They will fill a large hall easily.
