Electro Voice Sentry III information needed

I've had my Sentry III's connected to a variety of amps over the years (largest being a pair of 500w monoblocks) and have never seen the light. My ears give out long before. Maybe if you ran just some high frequency tones...

The clip light might be protecting the 350 horn which had a limit of 50 watts or so.
Does the light work when you run some external voltage through it?
 
Just to let you all know. From other members experiences I have read that EV used very good crossover caps in their Sentrys. Mine were all NP and I checked ESR and value and they all were right on spec (within tolerances) while ESR was below 3. In the very good range. I went ahead and changed them out with inexpensive 60uf NP for the woofers and the 30uf and Erse caps for the rest and it has made a HUGE improvement in the bass department. Less than $30 was invested in them and worth every penny. If you still have the stock ones in, I suggest you replace them if you haven't already. I'm curious on the break-in myth as to what might change in their performance. The horns as you all know sound fabulous anyway and I think it will be difficult for me to discern any improvement, but time will tell. These speakers continue to amaze me.
 
I've never had a set of speakers as sensitive as to placement as these. Just a couple of inches forward or backwards closer to the wall make a huge difference in bass output. I know these speakers were made to be placed close to the wall but being the port is located in the front I didn't expect them to be so sensitive. I've always had them out in the room several feet and have thought them to be bass shy for having a 15" woofer but with this new discovery I can dial the bass output in very nicely. I have yet to place them in corners and I'm betting these things can really come alive in that department if moved there. So don't give up on your speakers men if you haven't moved yours around to find the sweet spot. I have not set these up by any set calculations mathematically, just the basic triangle. One day I hope to try the corner placement and see what happens and I'm betting these things will really pound. Any Sentry owners have theirs in the corners of your rooms?
