Hi back online sorry for the delay in getting back to you all. Ok here's the skinny on my Sentry III's; i'm picking them up tomorrow, they are HEAVY and big. The cabs are as mint as you can get from a 30+ year old speaker. The guy I'm getting them from got a set for free from a theater company, they had 2 sets. One set his buddy got and it too needed only one of the speakers re-foamed so he decided not to do it and subsequently took the speakers to his local salvation army and gave them up for free! So probably but not positive maybe the speakers are not a matched set since possibly the other speaker that was given away that needed the re-foam could have been the mate to the one that I'm getting needing the re-foam, if that makes any sense. At any rate I'm not sure weather all I need is a re-foam or in fact I may need a re-cone. Can anyone enlighten me on how I would be able to tell the difference. The foam is rotted away again on only one of the woofers.
Funny thing when I went to audition the speakers the dude had it hooked up so some 90s plastic amp playing some metal out of his mini ipod. Not exactly hifi but the speakers worked which was about all I could hope for. I'm paying $200 for the set - ya think thats a good deal?
