Electro Voice Sheraton Console

Picked up a Electro Voice Sheraton console and have been trying to find some information about it. Scarce little out there. I'm trying to identify the year it was made (1958?) and whether the components are original to the cabinet. It has Garrard 88/4 turntable, an Akai 1800 SD reel to reel, Scott 299 amplifier, Scott tuner - unsure of the model number, and buried inside was a Scott 345 multiplex unit.

Thanks for your help.

Did you ever find any information about this? I've just come across one and I'm trying to figure out what I should pay for it.

This is not a packaged factory built console. This is a component cabinet, the owner chose the equipment he desired and could afford, and housed it in the cabinet. Custom installation in short.

Also, this system most likely began as a mono installation, Stereo got announced, so he traded in his amplifier, and got a HH Scott 299, when FM multiplex Stereo got legalized by the FCC, he bought a multiplex adapter for his HH Scott FM tuner or FM/AM tuner. He got his mono Garrard RC88/4 record changer converted to Stereo with a Garrard kit to go Stereo, and bought a Stereo cartridge. So those components are period correct or within a few years of when his component cabinet was new. The Akai 1800 SD open reel machine is 5-8 years later than the rest of the gear, and is transistorized. So you have some neat audio history and overall a very interesting early Stereo system from the early years of Stereo on records, early FM Stereo, and maybe even the conversion from 2 track Stereo tape to 4 track Stereo tape on open reel.

So I understand it was a custom job, but what are these worth ? I came across one with a Garrard Type A model in it. I was told to make an offer, but don't want to insult the current owner. I believe it is all original as it belonged to someone who worked for Electro Voice.

It was originally sold as a kit as an equipment console. EV has a large number of kits in that era, including DIY speaker kits, much like Heath and Altec were doing during that time frame. Mohagany consoles sold for a retail price of $173-$184, Oak was $181-$189. It matched the "Carlton IV" enclosures. See page 13.
