I picked up a CV SW12-B at the thrift that needed a refoam job. Now that it's ready to go I'm wondering how to drive it. It is a dual voice coil type and has connections for both channels. Since i have amplifiers to spare i'd like to biamp it. I'm thinking of using a summed mono electronic crossover at around 100hz. Who has a schematic or a link for a kit?
When connecting the sub to the low pass amp, should I bypass the passive crossover in the cabinet. Also should I parallel the voice coils, run each from a separate amplifier channel or only use one of the voice coils. If I only use one set of leads the other will have to be terminated as it will act like a secondary on a current transformer. Any idea what value to use to terminate it?
Who has used this sub and what impression do you have? Is it worth the trouble?
