Electrovoice Amplifier/Tuner

I bought an Electro-voice Tuner and Integrated Amp both for 15 bucks. They appear to be from the early 70's, but I have found no info on either. The tuner is junk, but the amp is very clean and powerful; The model number is EV-1177. Anyone know of these pieces?

If these are the units I am thinking of they are small footprint units with a clear plastic strip across the front. If so they are rather scarce and finding a matching pair is a find from a collector perspective. They were put out in the late 60s at about the same time EICO introduced the Cortina series. E-V was not huge in the home audio market for electroncis and hence the units were not displayed by most E-V dealers. Soundwise they were from memory nothing great or bad, just so-so. If I had them and they are cosmetically clean, I'd get them looked after and running. As for resale price, not sure but suspect they'd not get you enough to probably pay for the beer you'll drink over the 4th. I don't follow eBay often but from time to time have snooped for them and 1 time saw it was either the amp or tuner, can not remember which.

Uh-Oh . . . . . . .

I chucked the tuner!! I didnt know anything about these units and figured electrovoice was like a cheap-o clock radio company or something! Besides, I've got many far better tuners. But that is a real shame.....

Yep, that's the puppy I am thinking about. YOU DID WHAT???????????? To bed with you; no supper tonight and not allowed to touch any equipment for 2 weeks! I've learned NEVER to throw anything out without checking with the group first. Your junk could have been Toasted Almonds treasure.

Yep.. You are absolutely right, from now on I am always going to check here first! The reason I said it was junk was because it sounded like crap compared to another tuner w/same amplifier. Still....I did bad... :thumbsdn:

Anyways, I had another thought--I have a Realistic STA-16 which must only do like 10 wpc, but it has "quadravox" and jacks for 2 remote speakers. Is this even considered quadraphonic? I never had any quad and never heard any quad stuff. Does it qualify, or should I pack 'er back in the closet and buy a real Quad? Thanks, and I promise that I will never hurt another innocent vintage unit!!
