Electrovoice Georgian Project Questions

Hello, I have just acquired all of the hard parts from a set of Electrovoice Georgian speakers. They were removed from the original cabinets by a friend of mine. The cabinets are not available to me. I can't help but think that I could be missing out on something special if I sell them, and don't choose to utilize them myself. I am new and inexperienced, and would really appreciate some feedback as to how they could best be utilized. I was told that they could possibly be used not just to go back into Georgian enclosures, but if I found restorable cabinets from a set of Klipschorns, or JBL Hartsfields, they may also accommadate them. Is this true? If so, I could be patient and try to find worthy candidates, which I realize may take some time. Maybe someone has a better idea? Thank you in advance for your perspective.

There are Electro Voice cabinets out there since EV used to sell complete systems, cabinets, and/or raw speakers depending on the customer's needs. I was able to get a pair of Royal IV cabinets that were built for EV 15" woofers, in fact they used to house a pair until a cat got them. They are folded horn corner enclosures, not as large as Georgians. I plan to install Altec 846b guys in them if I can ever get some time. Keep an eye on local craigslist electronics sections.

You have some neat speakers there.

Depends on what you want. Do you want a big set of speakers that you have to do a fairly complex build to do?
or do you think trading that away to get something more in line with your needs is better?

I wonder if those cabinets have the same complex angles that the Klipschorn bass bins have...or similar. I'd often pondered building a set of Klipschorn cabinets since I have most all of the parts (sans mid horns) but decided not to mess with it ultimately. I could make the jigs to make the cuts but...just lost interest. I'll stick with my Belle clones I built for the time being.

Those are some mighty fine speakers for sure.

I found some really cool literature from that era. I'll check it out. Thanks for the insight!

Thanks! I have seen that every so often a set of restorable Klipschorn cabinets come available. I'm not much of a woodworker to make them myself, but restoration would definitely be an option.

I could accommodate large cabinets, and I absolutely love the looks of Klipschorns. I have so much stuff, that there really isn't anything that I would trade for. When I'm ready, I guess I will post for a set of empty cabinets. Thanks.
