Looking at Snopes, it seems more like it was trained to paint that image as opposed to it being a self-portrait.

Even so, that is amazing and shows how little we know about animal intelligence.

Looks to be a sort of factory for 'Elephant' paintings for the tourist trade.

Hope they treat them good while they're training them to do the painting.

I would never have believed this, if I hadn't seen the video. I would have swallowed an elephant being taught to hold a brush and slather paint on a canvas, producing modern "art", but to produce recognizable images.....that's great!

Here's my verification, I went to a place like that (may very well have been the same place) in Thailand a few years ago. The animals seemed well treated. Here's a picture I took of an elephant that had painted some flowers in a vase:

It was amazing what those elephants could do!
