EMIT diaphragm, I am no longer afraid to replace

goodolpg

Just an old fart trying to help.
I have a bunch of EMIT's. One pair in particular from Infinitesimals 490124 (thin magnet) arrived DOA.
One has obvious burn/trace damage, the other not so obvious. I'm a handy guy but having to "build a jig" always put me off.
So I search for " Infinity EMIT tweeter repair replacement procedure" and see a video that might be helpful (many aren't) and click on it.
It's our very own Bobby D. Turns out all I need is two screws, he even says what thread size.
I have lots of screws, I never throw any away, might need them some time. I've also been told I have a screw loose, but now I digress.
Anyways, thanks to Bobby's video I am no longer afraid to attempt an EMIT diaphragm replacement.

Thanks Bobby!

You guys (Infinity forum members) got me to attempt my first recap, I've done two more since then.
I have no doubt now that I could change out EMIT diaphragms. It appears surprisingly easy based on that video.
I guess the warnings about magnet slap and damaging diaphragms probably spooked me (and maybe others) and even though a jig is probably easy enough I just wasn't confident in attempting it.
I like how we've offered info, help, and encouragement to each other in whatever projects have been discussed in this forum. There's a lot of Infinity knowledge among the members here. I for one appreciate it.

post the video.

I used his video as a quick reference when I replaced my burnt out EMIT ribbon last week. It took all of 5 minutes to do the repairs.

I think he states the machine screws used were standard but mine were metric. Take one with you to the hardware store just to be sure.

Yes, the video makes it look quite simple.
I have rack of drawers with different wood screws, machine screws*, nuts, washers, etc... I pulled a couple machine screws out and they fit perfect.
No idea if they are USA or metric. I agree, take one with you if you go to buy some. Just don't lose it! The OEM screws are quite short, I could see dropping it or it falling out of pocket, etc.

*machine screws are the ones that fit for me.
