Emotiva mono blocks vs stereo amplifiers

Every time I see a "high end" system, it's being run with Mono block amps. Okay almost every time. I'm using a Yamaha C70 pre and either a Hafler XL280 or an Adcom GFA2535 currently. I'm fixing up what I consider my first audiophile pair of speakers, Infinity CS3007. I am wondering if anyone has any experience or advice on using the XPA-100 mono block amps. It would be about 800$ for a pair of them which is pennies compared to most mono amps. Will I appreciate significantly better sound as opposed to either my stereo Hafler or bi wiring with the 4 channels of my Adcom.

I used a pair of XPA-1's for years.

The Emotiva amps are a good value, with plenty of power, they run cool and I never had a bit of a problem with any of their products I've owned over the years.

There are a lot of discussions on the merits of two channel vs. monoblock amplifier approaches. I for one embraced monoblocks some years ago and that's where I am at today.

Good luck!

I've had the predecessor to that amp, the UPA-1 for about 4 years now and has been a wonderful amp cool running, plenty of power. I now use it with my Magneplanar MG 1 imp speakers and it's a perfect match. The Emo's were a little to bright for my taste with my Magneplanar MMG's so it's hard to know how they will interact with your current speakers. With Emotiva's 30 day return policy it may be worth a try
