One of these cartridges was mounted to a Sansui SR 838 - purchased the turntable for 125.00 Cdn. a few months ago and from what I have read so far it is quite a good cartridge and given what they generally go for one could say the turntable was free.
It has an Empire stylus ( Empire I ) in quite nice condition. Wondering if I should buy another replacement stylus - noticed one that is OEM ( 239 DET ) that would be around 220 Cdn. shipped. On the other hand I have been considering a AT VM 740xML though would cost more at 379.00 plus tax, already am using the VM 95 ML but if the Empire is reasonably competitive mind as well stay with it.
Granted the Microline stylus is good for 800 - 1000 hours or so which is an advantage. Obviously if one keeps an eye out there are original stylus available for somewhat reasonable prices though VM being current are readily found.
