Empire 2001 MKI Cart...info needed please.

Just posted that I picked up a Dual 1225 with a Empire 2001 MKI. I can't seem to find any info on this cart.

Anyone have any info on it?

Is it decent?

Vincent, that cartridge is from the Empire 2000 family and as such, will have similar specifications. It may be impossible, these days, to find the exact ones but if you look in the cartridge database and the different 2000 cartridges, you can get some idea.

The stylus really determines the performance level anyway.

I would start tracking it at 1.5 grams and see how it sounds.

Another thing is if you know the condition of the stylus. Like new? Slightly worn? Worn? Did the seller say? If in doubt, get a new one. Any of the styli for 2000s will fit except ones for the 2000Z, T, or X which have a smaller shank size..

The original owner said the deck was used very seldom. They are selling the house and now have no use for it any longer. seems to be in very nice shape.
 
G'day all, I believe that there is information on the '2000' model in the library of the Vinyl Engine website. It might be similar to the Empire 2001 MK1. Regards, Felix aka catman.
 
I had several Empire carts back in the day. Somewhere I have a 2000E body, it had a EIII stylus but the cantilever is sans diamond. www.lpgear.com carries a pretty full line of replacement Empire stylii, they appear to be from JICO.

I always liked the sound of the Empires I owned back in the day. I'd say it's worth getting a new stylus for...it's an inexpensive way to put your turntable back into great operating condition.

I was hoping someone with some "stick time" on this cart would offer an opinion. I have several carts and this one is a mystery to me.
