Empire Grenadier 8400 Speakers

I recently picked up these speakers at auction for about $70. Does anyone have any information on these. I googled them and not much came up except for this old post Empire Grenadier 8400 info??. Just wondering if anyone else has experience with these. Another question, my wife doesn't care for the stain because it doesn't match (of course). Value wise, would refinishing these hurt? I don't plan on selling them anytime soon since I like how they look and they sound decent too.

Thank you,
Tom

My parents had marble top Empires when I was growing up, They always sounded very muffled (like they were covered with moving blankets) connected to the big console in the living room. When I bought my Sansui I tried them thinking they should sound better but they didn't.

Tom, I love mine. After new caps on the xovers, they spang back to life. Not very common, but great build quality & sound IMO.
