EMS with 15" woofer

Hello, and thanks to all of you frequent ak users! I'm fairly new here & need some help identifying some ESS speakers. I have a chance to pick these up locally for a c note. Are they worth it? The post just says ESS & has some photos. No model no. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help!

I would hesitate, especially if you are buying them for the name. ESS started out with electrostatic high frequency panels and then went to the Heil tweeter, and their reputation is based on those earlier products. The ones you are considering look like they might be fine, especially if you want lots of volume and excitement, but I doubt if there is anything distinctly ESS about them.

Thanks Nat! I appreciate your input. It was the name that had me. I knew they made some great speakers, but I should have guessed that for 100.00 buck, it was too good to be true

It isn't too good to be true - there are many excellent speakers out there for very little money. It is just that these probably were not in that group.

In lieu of the newer ESS speakers, I picked up these really good sounding RSL bookshelf speakers for the same price. They are much smaller of a speaker, but WOW! I am very happy with them! Thanks again for your input yesterday.
So, the guy I got them from, told me they were magnificent RSL speakers. Is that the model? Magnificent? I can't find an actual model no. anywhere.
