Energy 22 Reference... What are they really?

While looking into getting a pair of speakers for a secondary system, I came across these Energy 22 Reference's locally:

I read some good and some bad about these Canadian made speakers. There are, also, 4 different sub-species of them which are:

1-) Energy 22Pro Monitor
2-) Energy 22 Reference
3-) Energy 22 Reference Connoisseur
4-) Energy 22 Reference EMS(low end cheap series which could be purchased at Best Buy for a low price)

Obviously, the Connoisseurs are the real deal weighing at 80lbs. each but I'm not near lucky enough for them to be Connoisseurs.

The seller is not sure which ones he has got but leaning towards Energy 22 Reference (#2 above) Are these decent speakers at this $200 CAD the seller is asking for? Any input by people who owned/auditioned these speakers would be awesome.

Cheers...

Be prepared to look for tweeters, they are not the right ones....those are Sound Dynamics horns that someone dropped in and don't sound anywhere near as good as the original "dual hyperdome" tweeters. Some people say those horns are good enough but they are not. I'd pass on these, or offer 100 bucks.

The Reference 22 and the Pro 22 sound remarkably close to the Connoisseur...you need to listen carefully to hear the differences though the bass reach of the connoisseur's is more apparent.

If you haven't already, try a search on CanuckAudioMart forums. I know there are a number of threads re: the different lines, with postings from a number of (apparently) knowledgeable owners...
