Energy Veritas 2.0CH-B Center Speaker

Hey all,
I've got a problem! I picked up an Energy Veritas 2.0 Center Speaker--great stuff, BUT the tweeter isn't working. My plan is to cannibalize the two bullet woofers/drivers and sell them. Problem: Removing the tweeter was easy. The woofers seem to be held on by a bolt in the back. I figured out that I had to remove some rubber bumpers, then unscrew an allan wrench screw--then I'm presented with a recessed bolt (I think). I have a bunch of sockets that come close, but none match, hence none will "catch" and allow me to remove the nut (after which, I assume, I can then push the woofers out the front from the back). I'm assuming Energy did this stuff so that consumers would be encouraged to take their speakers to an authorized dealer. I'm determined to figure this out--any idea what size socket wrench I need to get this dang nut off? Would needle nosed pliers get it done? Looking forward to any advice! I am attaching the best pics I could get of the situation.

Look up Needle nose vise grips. might work if you can get a good grip
That sounds like my first choice for now--gonna pick up some today and give it a go. I see the post below asks if nut is metric or SAE--damned if I know! I guess a second best option is to buy a metric set of socket wrenches, hoping to avoid that!
 
Energy speakers were made in Canada ( Toronto actually ).

So they are very likely metric ( since we have been metric for a while > you can Google just when we went metric to narrow it down > pretty sure it was ages ago ).

The rods have an acoustic function ( again, Googling will get you that info ).

Boy am I dumb or what? Turns out the initial nut that I removed, that merely required an allan wrench, WAS the nut that was holding the rod in place. I thought there was a small nut on the end of the rod, but it was hard to tell, since there was a surrounding rubber casing that made it hard to see. No, no additional nut. Just the one I removed right at the start. I just needed to pop each rod end with an awl and small hammer to get each woofer to pop out. Let me tell ya, when someone who is not highly technical gets involved with vintage stereo equipment, the results could form the basis for a television sitcom. Pics below!

After I had popped the rods out, I still didn't understand what had been holding the rods in place. My insight came to me (not making this up) while lying in bed and thinking about it. Voila!

Apparently I suck at Googling! I can discover very little about these guys. They are the Energy Veritas V2.0CHB-1. I'm guessing the rods act as a kind of acoustic damper?

See this from a review on a website called soundandvision.com: "All Veritas loudspeakers have rigid, heavily damped enclosures. The rear of the each woofer's magnet is braced against the back of the cabinet with a threaded rod; the nuts securing these rods are on the outside of the cabinet, covered by visible rubber caps. The Convergent Source Module has its own damped sub-enclosure, and low-diffraction grilles are provided (in my auditioning, I used the grilles only on the surrounds)."

Unless I'm reading the above narrative incorrectly (and I might be), it does look like the rods provide some additional damping for the two woofers. No?
 
The rubber gasket on the driver and the rubber grommet on the back acted as an isolater for the woofer as well as damping cabinet resonances.

The drivers themselves are something of design genius as well. Pretty easy to drive.
