EPI 100s. Good deal?

I have the chance to pick up some EPI 100 speakers for 50 bucks..

They are in excellent condition, with a scratch or two.
From what I’ve heard, EPI is a pretty respectable brand. Any info on this model? I’ve searched the forums but had no luck finding anything.

You're simply not searching the web properly - - there is tons of info about the EPI-100. They are great two-way speakers, but there were several variables throughout their production. Some have wood veneer, some have vinyl cabinets. Woofers have either rubber surrounds or foam. Tweeters have either masonite plates or plastic. Most caps are 10uF, but original 8uF caps have been known to exist. Some have rotary tweeter control, while others have none. There might even be two different grille fabrics: light and black.

Ahh I found some info. Yes, the ones i’m looking at have the black grille. They have the rubber surrounds as well. What price would these normally go for

Website rules prohibit us from discussing price in this section of the forum, but without having any further info, the rubber surrounds tend to indicate earlier versions which would make your price very attractive.

Good, good. Thank you :bigok:

Just a FYI, even with rubber surrounds, they may need to be refoamed. Check for stiffness and micro cracks, especially where the "roll" meets the metal frame. Granted, Colorado's dry climate maybe a contributing factor but ever EPI woofer with a rubber surround that I have owned has been cracked in that area.
