EPI A300 speaker questions

Anybody out there know anything about EPI A300 speakers?

I have visited the Human Speakers site and found the brochure on line.

They are rated at 47 to 20,000Hz in a cabinet that is roughly the same size as my Genesis 1+ speaker. Yet the 1+ goes down to 38 Hz with an 8" woofer and the woofer of the EPI is 10".

The EPI has the midrange speaker.

I really like the sound (including the bass) from the Genesis 1+ but I am wondering what the midrange adds to the EPI 300.

Interesting. That makes more sense than the numbers I quoted.

However, I got the numbers from the EPI brochure:

The A300's deviate from the normal EPI/Genesis design as they use a 10" woofer as opposed to the normal 8" woofer. I have the A240's, which also use the 10" woofer. Although I don't really notice a "hole" in the midranges, adding the midrange driver to the system would allow them to alter the crossover points a bit to ensure a flat response thru the midranges.

Indeed, the midrange should smooth out the midrange on the A300.

It looks like EPI started using the 10" woofer on the "A" series.

I guess EPI wanted to keep the A300 speaker cabinet small for those that wanted a bookshelf size but were willing to compromise on how low the bass would go.
