I’m sure they’re amazing but I’ve never been more disappointed visually. Without the covers they look SO unimpressive!

You’re an enabler.;)
I can see why you would think that, but no. I'm the voice of reason.
I mean, c'mon. You know as well as I that whoever ends up buying them won't appreciate them half as much as you would.
I would, obviously, but they surely won't.

I've had the "small" version of those, the 400's, and grills on they look decent, but they don't sound good at all. Obviously kinda the sound-everywhere deal, but I've heard those types of speakers and I like some. These are just spacy.

I had a pair of 400’s back in the day, I thought they sounded excellent. One of the better sounding speakers I’ve owned as a matter of fact.

Doesn't that seem high? Considering that a single pair of "module" speakers like the A100 can be easily gotten for <= $150, and this is basically four modules in one cabinet.
I wouldn’t hesitate at that price. They don’t come along very often.

You are correct- the 90#, 38” tall Minitower 400 was a great sounding speaker system. After mine were stolen, I walked into a Playback audio store in Indy, and 30’ from the door, were a pair of the EPI tower 1000s.
I had to have them and they are excellent shape and used today. ( posted on media). They can shake the floor and windows. No-$1800 is a bargain for a full- range speaker, IMHO.
