Have a set of dual gold ring epi tweeters. Does anyone know the model there from? I thinking epi 100 but unsure. Post pics later.

Thanks for the info. These tweeters are left over from a set of EPI that I bought which both had the woofers replaced with mismatched woofers. I ended up turfing the speakers as i dont think it was worth tracking down 2 woofers but I kept the tweeters.

I think they were EPI 100. The cabs were mint and grills. Picked them up for 5 buck (i think) at yard sale. Was so excited I found a set of epi that i didnt check the woofers as I assumed they were original and would need a standard foam rebuild. Was it worth tracking down 2 woofers or was the cost to high for what the speakers were worth.

Well worth it. EPIs are very well designed speakers that perform well beyond what you'd expect.

Spilt milk at this point.

You should be shot with a ball of your own ****, young man.:D

At the very least, TARED & FEATHERED. :D

OK. So we all do STUPID things now and again. :scratch2:

What are you doing with the tweeters? Have a project, or holding them if something comes along?

Do yourself a favor, and hot-glue the magnets to the plate on those tweeters. The glue that was used has been found to dry out, then the magnets fall off making them useless.

If you go here: http://www.humanspeakers.com/index.htm, you will find box sizes and drivers that can be used with those tweeters. The woofer is the "Pro 002 8" driver".

If you know someone with woodworking skills, or if you have skills yourself, you can make a set of 100's, or even 150's. There are many EPI and Genesis branded speakers that use that woofer.

It's just too bad you trashed the boxes. Live and learn.

I think I made a mistake throwing the cabs out. Sound like most of you would have fought each other for a set of mint cabs. As for the tweeters I could pass them on to someone else that needs them or hope I find another set of EPI. Oh and I forgot to mention I kept the EPI logo off the grilles. I also took a picture of one of the woofer I kept out of the cabinets. I dont think Its valuable at all. Says made in taiwan R.O.C 8 ohm sw820pp. Can someone identify the woofer (if its even possible) so I dont end up making another mistake again and end up throwing a good woofer in the trash. If its trash its going in the trash were it belongs.

AudiO.

I hope you realize my and other posts were NOT intended to insult you in any way. As the old saying goes: **** Happens. :D

Save the tweeters and logos. Maybe some day, you'll come across a set of EPI's or Genesis speakers that need a rebuild.

And yes, most of us who own EPI's would have brawled over mint boxes and grills.

As for the single driver you have. It's likely not trash, but more on the order of a RadioShack replacement driver. Some were good, some not. I never throw away drivers unless they are non-working or torn beyond repair.

That being said, it's yours to do with as you please.

If you want to play around a little, mount the driver in a cardboard box. Hook it up to your amp, and see (hear) how it sounds. A box with about 1.5cu ft. size should be good.

To find the cu. ft., multiply the height x width x depth, then divide by 12 three times.

This hobby is all about having fun. Go have some. :thmbsp:

FWIW, my 100s - with the same tweets as yours - measure 11" wide, 21" high, 9" deep. One of my best vintage purchases ever.

I did learn a lesson from this. To not assume parts are expensive and put sought after cabs in the garbage. Mabye one day I will build my self a cabinet and buy the woofers and put together a set of homemade EPI.
