EPI tweeters in Smaller Advent?

I have two pairs of speakers: EPI-100V and Smaller Advents. I don't want to keep both. I'm currently listening to the EPI because I love the airy open sound of the tweeter. But they don't have the low bass of the Smaller Advents. Is it crazy to take the tweeter from the EPI's and replace the fried egg in the Advents? What would be involved?

Yes. You would butcher both sets of speakers. Would also devalue both sets as well.

I’d sell the smaller advents since they will bring more money in the marketplace then buy a small 8” subwoofer to fill in the low end for epi’s

Smaller Advents when properly restored are truly remarkable speakers. Same deep bass as the Large Advent and adequate mids and highs. The deep bass in the Smaller Advents is amazing. Currently run Smallers in my work office.
As for EPI I have a pair of EPI M110s, which are a vinyl covered version of the M150. These are physically larger speakers than the EPI 100s, but the drivers and crossovers are the same. I like the punchy sound of my M110s, but to be honest they don’t compare to the Smaller Advents. If it were me I’d try to find a pair of functional Advent ‘green fried egg’ tweets to get your Advents up and running. I’d also encourage you to recap those advents. Easy recap. On 16 and one 8 uF cap.

Everything works on the Advents, right? No bad tweeters. If you are not concerned about selling either of them, just want the best sound using a combination of parts from both, give it a try. It isn't going to hurt the driver and if it improves the sound for you there is nothing to lose given preserving originality is not a concern. Extend the wires from the Advent to the other driver if it doesn't seal the Advent and temporarily seal the hole for a listening test. Report on how it sounds, interesting to experiment.

I suspect the EPI tweeter would have difficulty reaching down to the upper reaches of the Small Advent woofers. But sure, go ahead and experiment so long as you figure a way that won't make any irreversible changes.

Yep to the above. The EPI crosses around 2000 hz and the Smaller Advent around 1200hz, which leaves a huge hole between the Advent woofer and the EPI tweeter in response. One also needs to consider efficiency as the tweeters may have different outputs and that might also need to be addressed.
There’s a lot more to consider here than just swapping drivers. I’d definitely replace the Advent caps aa a start.

If that doesn’t do it, you might want to look into an Ewave for the Advents, but that’s more work. I have a set I did of regular Utility Advents and absolutely love them in my garage. They aren’t Altec A7 killers, which is why they are in the garage, but they are very nice sounding speakers.

It's all in the listening. Was also thinking if the EPI is an actual improvement to your satisfaction you can always sell the Advent tweeters to someone in need. Might be as easy to sell the tweeters as the whole speaker, even easier, especially with shipping in mind.
