Epicure - restoration - driver/tweeter gaskets?

The original gaskets are compressed thin white foam. Should I replace these, or are they adequate? If they should be replaced, what's the cheap/easy solution to this? I have some 1/8" weather stripping available, would that be alright or is there a preferred product/material that's available at the hardware store? Unclear if original gaskets do a good enough job after 40+ years?

The gasket is to ensure an airtight seal between the box and the driver. Install the driver, with the existing foam, and then push gently on the woofer cone. If it resists, then your seal is good. If it deflects easily, then your seal may be inadequate. I use Mortite, a grey caulk, which comes in thin strips, and is perfect for the job.
