Esart e100 restoration - strange resistor ?

Hello all,

I am restoring this old Esart E 100 amplifier right now.

I came across a strange resistor in the volume potentiometer section. Here is the schematic :

Capture.PNG
So one parallel resistor for each Balance potentiometer (R50 and R'50) and no resistor for Volume potentiometers.

However, inside the beast ... :

I can see in this double Volume potentiometer a parallel resistor on one of them.

Is this something someone might have added for any particular reason ? The asymmetry of it is choking me, but maybe I am missing something ...

Thanks all,

i would guess that one section is of a different resistance and it was not tracking equally.

i've done exactly the same on a pot that had 10k ohm difference between them.

i know of no other reason to do so.

Yeah I thought it was for some compensation of channels. I guess it may be nice to change this pots sometime ... I'll check if the tracking is nice with this hack
