Extremely Rare ESS Heil AMT Speakers - $750

Model AMT 6 Speakers from the 1970's originally purchased from audio engineer at ESS factory.
Non-sequential serial numbers (one has 1/4" phono input, the other banana). Replaced woofers and rebuilt crossovers over the years. Comes with three spare brand new AMT diaphragms. Needs new grill cloth (I have the frames for the cloth).


The woofers have been replaced but I'd still like to hear them.
Wish I had the room.

I like the way they look! I wonder what they sound like? Anyone have any experience with these?
 
Reminds me of a McIntosh XRT-19, with the semicircular array of tweeters, and they could be phenominal in the right setup.

I'd be concerned about irregular high frequency response as you moved around the listening plane. A line source like the AMT drivers will have broader horizontal dispersion than vertical (this is why planar speakers lose some of their sound when you stand taller than they are).

However, this design rotates the driver 90 degrees, so you have broad vertical dispersion, and less horizontal. With the four drivers spread over an arc, you could end up with lobes of louder highs, and gaps between the drivers.

Of course, if the rolloff seridipitously matches with the position, they might reinforce each other just enough to give a solid image all the way around.

I notice that there is an enclosure for the tweeters on the left speaker, but not the right.
 
I have a set of AMT6's I'm restoring and I'm missing the pieces that lay on top of the tweeters. Can you tell me what it is made of, how thick it is and the distance from front to back in the center please? --Thanks
