I'm working on set for a friend. Right now they need foams, not an issue. Are there things I should check/test to make sure things are OK?

Looking forward to test driving them when they're done. The grills make this appear bigger than the are.

Anyone else having issues using Google searches. The new site has basically broken most if not all links found on Google.

I suppose a visual inspection of the crossover is in order. Removing the capacitors to test is pointless - if you're going to the effort and expense of doing a proper ESR check, you might as well just replace the 40 year old capacitors. I suppose if you already have an ESR meter and you were thinking of those pricey polypropylene caps, it may be worth the effort. Do the resistors look a little brown? Are the pots/rotary switches clean?
You will regret the test drive with the knowledge that you have to give them back.

I've been rebuilding speakers a while now, so have a DMM, DATS (woofer tester) which allows me to check resistors, capacitors and of course drivers. I'm just curious about the tweeter, if there is anything I need to watch out for. Networks I'll look over, but my friend will have to decide how far he wants to go into this. He plans to sell them (audio retailer) but I have no idea how much he has invested, and likely he won't say. Poly would be nice, used those in many of my speakers. Funny thing about Poly is people rave about them, but I've never read a "test" where one (of two identical pair of) speaker has NEW electrolytic and one has poly. I don't doubt the poly will sound different, but I'm not sure that they will sound better in all cases. I know that a recap has helped ALL my speakers. Some more than others. 40 years old? Really. Where does time go?

I came across one bad AMT diagram. Read open with my DMM like an open coil speaker. I disassembled and found one of the leads had broke and was not repairable. Replacements are available and easy to swap. I read if the pleats are excessively warped it indicates they were overdriven at some point...not sure how it affects the SQ though.
