I think they are wonderful, but for the price PE is asking (and I'm sure it is due to their costs) I'd take a hard look at other alternatives.

Yes, it would be nice if they were $150 rather than $350... but IMO you cannot do much better than a properly implemented AMT. Now if only there was an AMT woofer...
 
I have a pair that after I sold all the other parts of the AMT1c, have 0 dollars into. But the replacement diaphragms are 90 bucks a piece. They really don't sound blow just faded under 10k. Is that normal wear?

Actually there are designs out there for dipole bass and mids.

Linkwitz has some:

The complex thing is designing a proper crossover to use.

$350 each new is not bad when you consider that they regularly fetch $400-500 for a used pair on that auction site, and that is with used diaphragms in ? condition.

I suppose that a person could order them direct from ESS if you had a company name:

Might save a few dollars.
