I was thinking the same thing. If I was the kid and was there you can beat your ass if I had $6,000 invested in it I'd be bidding on it. Could have probably got it for less than what was owed on it no less. The old man probably told him he couldn't bit on it would be my guess.

I do feel sorry for that son, though, paying six thousand bucks and getting nothing for it for all those years, only to finally watch someone else take it home for five hundred. Must have hurt, at least a little. Still, that isn't your fault. Enjoy the heck out of your new (/expanded) system!

Well, we can speculate all we want, whether there was a falling out, whether the son got something better, and we don't know if the son is still alive. Else, he certainly could have made claims of "partial" ownership - if he wanted to. Obviously the father didn't want to part with it through the years - and he made the rules. And the son-in-law being in the picture, instead of the son, speaks volumes.
All we can deal with is the now. And it's a great score and congratulations are in order for the ultimate winner regardless of any yeah-buts, preconditioned sympathy of how we would feel as losers or curses!
I hope this isn't "A Post April Fool's Day Prank". OK, I'm falling for it!! Congrats Anyways!! :yes:

Guys thank you very much. It was a helluva find. Im still curious about the make of the rack itself. Very well built, eighth inch steel not 14 or 16 gauge. It mikes at .125. took two of us to load the empty rack, and im not a lightweight, 6'6" 240, and i fix oilwells all day, and I barely got my half.
The Kid was not in the country. He knew of the sale, dont know why he wasnt there. I would have been had iI been in his shoes!!!!!!!!!!

Like I said in my earlier post in this thread, it's called "The Rack" it was used for SPEC equipment display at the stores that sold the Pioneer equipment. It was not meant to be sold to the general public. If they did happen to sell one, they sold for $1650, I know, I have one. Mine also has the Turntable attachment that sits in the front of the rack, does yours? To my knowledge, you and I are about the only two AKers to have one of these.
