New to the site. Anyone Know anything about the EV18's with the styrofoam cones.Ithink they were used in the EV 6 and possibly EV/ Klipsh designs. I have recently gotten ahold of 2 and am trying to decide what to put them in.REGARDS, JOHN

Welcome John. We are pretty laid back here, so you have found a site that can give you enormous amounts of info

Got any pics? Could be any combo/design.

:scratch2:Didn't I see someone had a large square styro woofer that they were trying to Id?

i've got a pair of those, as well as a pair of 12" just like them. unfortunately, all i can tell you about them is that they are 4 ohm, and heavy as a ...

EV-18 with stryrofoam cones? Hmmm...

the EV-18 I remember was a very pedestrian 3 (or maybe 4) way 'monkey coffin' type consumer speaker system with all cone drivers (and not very exciting ones at that).

Plenty of legacy EV information at:

http://archives.telex.com/archives/EV/

EDIT: oops, I get it. You mean EV-18 drivers, not a speaker system. Duh, sorry.
EVM-18B info at http://archives.telex.com/archives/EV/Speakers/EDS/EVM-18B EDS.pdf
(that's an MI speaker; cone appears to be paper)

EV Six system info: http://archives.telex.com/archives/EV/Speakers/EDS/E-V Six EDS.pdf

Browse around the EV legacy docs at the link above and you'll likely find your driver.

I once had an early EV Patrician. It used an 18WK. An 18" woofer (paper cone)with a enormous magnet. The Patrician was based on the Klipshorn but was 1/3 bigger in most dinensoins.

nope, not there. they are not evm series. they are called "low-resonance" woofers. the cones are 1/2" thick, some kind of styrofoam with a grey coating (spray-paint?). ceramic magnets. i haven't had mine in cabinets yet, so i can't say how they sound. the styro cones are also used on some of the 30 inchers in the patricians.

Had some. They were OK but not really great IMHO...
