EV DH1A DIAPHRAGM

Hi everyone,

I purchased a tl606 with dh1a compression drivers and 940 horns, sadly I got scammed, fall right on the scammer trap. When I noticed he said that can return it but he's going sideway.

One of the DH1a diaphragms is original and the other is a cheap chinese aftermarket replacement.

Found on ebay and new diafragm + shipping to my country and taxes is about 400 dolars each.

Someone knows some way to get them cheaper?

Someone have expiricen with aftermaket good quality diaphragms replacements?

The cheaper alternative seems to be that here are selling just one with an original diaphragm for 260 dolars, just but that one? Change the diapragm to mi driver or replace mine with the unmolested (Supposedly) driver?

Thx in advance to anyone who helps in my problem caused by my stupidity.

Genuine replacements are 275 - 300 on the ground here in the US.

400 all said and done to points outside the US seems about right, maybe a hair steep but not by much.

Reverb has a used one offered at 167 US. Buying used for maybe a 25% savings over new doesn't seem like a good place to save on cost.

I can vouch for the issues with some aftermarket EV diaphragms.

It's not that they aftermarket ones are ALL bad- it's that they're inconsistent, to a degree that makes them unpredictable in terms of performance. If it's good, it's very close to the original. If it's bad, it's so bad to be unusable, in many cases. And it's impossible to tell, until you try to nstall it in the driver.

We've had certain EV aftermarket diaphragms- probably more of the DH2010 "witch hat" diaphragms than any others- that we've had to send back over half of what we got, because of tolerance errors. Diaphragms that wouldn't even fit into the driver, dragging voice coils, diaphragms that for no discernible reason, played half-volume compared to others, and such. We've gotten to where we'll usually only order in an original EV diaphragm, in most cases, now.

Fortunately, EV still supports most of these old drivers. Yes, the diaphragms are expensive- but how much is it worth, for them to bear the cost of maintaining obsolete inventory, 20 to 40 years after the last component sale date for the drivers in question?

Regards,
Gordon.

Thx you very much for your kindness.

I understand that I hace to change both diaphragms for the new ones, that wold make 800 dolars or u cab change just one?

The idea to replace the full driver, or change the used diaphragm for the one sale localy is just a bad idea?

Thx in advance
