EV Horns and Bass Cabs

Hello Audiokarma people,

Putting this up with some blind trust and faith. Love this site. First time post here. Audio nut, not sure I'd say audiophile as I think that's a level of knowledge I don't quite yet have.

Looking at several EV HP1 w/ 9040 horn and TL606DW dual 15" combos. Thinking of making offer on them but would probably be looking to flip most of them and keep just a pair for a project down the road.

Believe most of them are in great shape but haven't demo'd any yet. Few i metered seem like correct ranges for rated impedances.

Are these still attractive to buyers as a bulk flip? Where would you go looking to solicit? I know there are pro sound forums but would appreciate any more focused leads?

Moderator note, ALL buy/sell solicitations must be posted in BarterTown. Asking for the speaker's value here in D&S is fine, solicitating buyers for your "flip" is not allowed anywhere, even in BT as the rules state you have to own AND use the item offered. Please read the AK rules for more details ;)

The whole pro-sound, Hi End Audio, Vintage market is Down, Way down
These days with massive inflation, Dollar devaluation, Political strife.
So the Also Ran- Electro Voice is hurt even more than the Big names,
McIntosh, Marantz, JBL.
Hope you don't have too much tied up in those Large old EV cabinets!

Thanks for the comment @Nyjblbob !

Any insight to my questions by chance? (At any price) are these still attractive to buyers as a bulk flip? Where would you go looking to solicit? I know there are pro sound forums but would (you have) any more focused leads? Thanks again!

Bronkers,
check out the website Reverb. Mostly musical instruments,
but they have many Pa speakers, Raw drivers and monitors.
look at their asking prices for the current market, and price yours
a bit less if you want to move them!

Thank you for the fast reply and suggestion!

Agreed!!

Thanks for pointing this out @Dswankey I didn't even realize mod had edited, let alone the violation

Have now read thru rules and will comply from here!

**First object is to obtain a pair of the speakers discussed, as noted in my first post on this forum, and as a function of that i may be required to obtain mote that i would have no other immediate use for.

(Ie 'being a flipper' not primary intent.)

Be well!

Large speakers like those are usually a local pickup only kind of thing. Most people wouldn’t pay for freight to ship aging pro speakers. So it depends how your local market is. I would think you would have to get them for pretty cheap to be able to resell them for anything.

The value is in the drivers. The unfortunate thing is shipping drivers is also pretty expensive now. An EV woofer that might fetch 100 bucks will cost 50 to ship.

In the past I’ve bought lots of speakers so I could sell some and end up with a pair to keep for free. I wouldn’t call that flipping. But when you mention flipping multiple times in your OP, I can see how someone might call you a flipper ;)
