EV Speakers

I was able to pick these EV speakers (Low Resonance Ultra Compact System) yesterday for a mere $25. Cabinets need to be re-veneered, new seal tape(?) applied and one cabinet has water damage on the bottom to where some layers of plywood has peeled way over the years. That issue may be a challenge. Regardless, a little deoxit on the pots and man, these things sing! Very impressed! I will try to work on these when I can.

Yeah, those drivers are bound to sound pretty fantastic with a crossover redo. It might be just as easy to reconstruct the cabinets as well; depending on skill and desire. Those look like 8" Wolverines for mids. I just sold a pair of 12" Wolverines today, they really did some things wonderfully. I'm almost sad their gone, but happy they have a new life. Please keep us posted ;)

Ok, so now that it's been pointed out to me that these are the famous EV Esquires (thanks mhardy6647), I am finding a lot more information about these speakers and just how much these are highly regarded. I was testing them earlier today with a small Technics receiver playing FM and somehow throughout the day, I randomly ended up in the garage several times just to stop and listen to them. I am still impressed with the clarity and imaging they have!

Yes, I was thinking of upgrading the crossovers also. It would be great to also redo the cabinets, but I would not trust myself doing it properly.
