Ever Evolving 2 Channel System

Power Cord upgrade to Marantz

Little update.,

I'm not 100% satisfied with AC cables for Marantz UD7007 until now,
Started out with Pangea AC14 SE, AudioQuest NRG X3, Shunyata Venon 3, PS Audio Xstream Plus & stock power cord from Parasound Halo A21.

I spend over a year going through with those cords and settle on PS Audio Xstream because overall transparency, soundstage, depth and deeper bass compare to other cords but some female vocals and piano notes does not sound natural to me and my wife.

My wife plays piano and she been saying some piano notes on my speakers are not as accurate so she played some Olivia Ong notes on her Yamaha and I play on my speakers, my wife was right it is sound little different.

So I pull out Parasound A21 power cord to replace it in place of Xstream plus and play it again, right there truly natural piano sound is back but soundstage is smaller and deeper bass is gone, here I come to look for another power cord.,

Long story short I went on Japanese Pro forums and they're recomending Oyaide Black Mamba AC cords, so I order it from .... Co., to try it out. It's call Oyaide's Black Mamba Sigma.

Until now two of my favorite AC cables for Marantz UD7007, PS Audio Xstream Plus And Parasound AC cord from My A21 Amp.

Oyaide's Black Mamba Σ.
http://www.oyaide.com/ENGLISH/AUDIO/products_category/power_cord/pg631.html

With Oyaide's Black Mamba Σ cord, it did not add anything but transparency, soundstage, depth and deeper bass(More Define)as PS audio cord but with natural sounding instruments and more spacious airy sound.
It's little less dynamic compare to PS Audio Xstream may be because richer, smoother presentation.

I am settle on this cord, I've been using it over 3 weeks and I must say this is the best power cord upgrade for my source Marantz UD7007.
If someone looking for AC cord upgrade to source components, this is one of must try AC cord for sure.

Thanks for the update. power cables make a biger defrance than people think that black mamba looks very well put together.
Ime looking to upgrade a couple of power cords after the holidays ill look in to those you have a very well sorted system there. Nice :-)

Thank you guys, I'm very happy with this set up but I'm itching for Hi Res music player, what are you guys using for Hi Res player? Any recommendation?

Thanks

I can't give you a full report on my Hi Res setup yet, but my current plan is Mac Mini to iFi iDSD DAC. I have an external HD for the Hi Res files. Hope to be able to report in soon.

On another note - I really dig your setup. I recently started a thread over here on the Parasound Halo gear and think it would be really valuable to have your thoughts on it.

Thanks for the report on your Hi Res playback plan, I'm using Sony USB thumb drive attach to Marantz UD 7007 to play FLAC files, I think about going all Hi Res music playback and stop using physical media but I will do more research and wait for your feedback with Mac Mini set up.

I will definitely chime in later to your thread about Halo P5, thanks

Little Update to my set up,
Here is the result of small DIY project from this holiday week.
This is base on my little internet research and audition at local HiFi shop very expensive racks.

Base on my little research,Using hardwood as shelf material may improve sonic quality over very refeletive glass surface.

Instead of removing tempered glass shelves, I use glue to bond hardwood on the glass shelf to increase rigidity, result was great it is so rigid and solid as a slab(3/4" hardwood on top & 1 1/4" for bottom), end result was well worth of my effort, highs are little smoother and little deeper bass. Some may think it's impossible but now I know audiorack also is the one important part of my system.

I just wanted to experiment before I buy expensive hardwood racks. It turns out really good for me, super solid structure for little $$. Instead of buying expensive racks I'm keeping this rack and make some more improvements and modifications.

Beautiful gear, but the wall? I can't understand how/why anybody would invest so much in their gear and then play it in such a weird space. You're far from alone - it seems normal. Anyhow, great looking gear, but you need some room treatments!

Yes exactly that is my main problem, Unfortunately I can only have this room for 2 channel system, living room is occupied with 5.1 for family. Typical SF bay area house with very limited space.

I've been trying DIY panels for room treatments as you can see in this picture, it helps improve a bit but I have to buy proper acoustic panels in near future. Thanks

It is sound wonderful listening to it everyday, even while I'm working I think about it., this is the second best system I've ever had. Thanks for the comments.

Nice combo, I was looking to buy P3 but I heard new replacement was coming out soon from sales rep, so I waited for P5 to pair with A21.
This is the best I could get for my budget and also supporting local business.
