Ever hear of a Grundig tube console?

I can get this for $50. It works, even turntable works. Exterior shows some lamination missing, bumps and bruises. Problem is, it like 6ft long, maybe more. Should have taken other pics but I have his card. Tubes in it look original. I doubt I want it, not enough garage space but I can give an AK hookup. Its in Massachusetts. It's a Majestic model

The 3 12AX7/ECC83's, more then likely Telefunkens possibly Valvo's, alone are worth the $50.

Other then that if you were considering a standalone console pull you might want to look elsewhere

It is a Majestic and made for the American market
It has the socket for the wired remote control

I have had a couple of Grundig consoles and they always sounded excellent to me
My current WAF stereo set up is a Grundig 320 RU and matching speakers on tulip stands with a dual 1019

Grundig made great gear

My grandparents had one similar to this pic. It was fascinating as a kid to play with all of the bands - picking up shortwave broadcasts from around the world. Even watching the green glow of the warm up light was mesmerizing. Had two satellite speakers they had in the living room. The gloss on that cabinet - gorgeous! The sound was good - very warm and listenable.

Sadly it must have died at some point because it disappeared and was replaced with a crap Curtis Mathes rack system. Wish I could have saved it, but I was too young.

Someone should save this one!

This unit pictured is a solid state Grundig console, with a Philips record changer.

I did write similar. Similar layout, similar look. Haven't found an exact pic of the unit I remember.

We have two Grundig consoles. Perhaps 'Majestic' is a designation of Grundig's that has multiple variants, as that is the name of the tube console we own. About four feet wide, pull down/tilt out electronics section and TT/RtR under the top lid. Finished in sunburst veneer. The mechanicals need attention, the electronics are functional. Stylistically, transitional, exhibiting a slight waterfall influence. Out other was brought stateside by a GI that purchased it in '70. Invoice is in German. Dual TT. Stone cold MMC design.

I had a small Blaupunkt radiogram that I bought for around $100. Got the PE turntable going, and when I ran out of room sold it for $300 to a dealer who was going to give it a light restoration and sell for around $1000. Mid century audio has some real value in the right market. For $50 someone should grab it.
