Ever heard of Chicken Shack?

I have the "Imagination Lady" lp. Deram SDL 5 from 1971- I spin it often when listening to vinyl-recommended. Band was Stan Webb, John Glascock, Paul Hancox on this one.

I picked that one up just this last weekend at the local record show.
It's more of a power trio LP, but still pretty good.
Probably the first Chicken sShack LP I've seen there too

Ha!

I've SEEN Chicken Shack!!

I've told this story before, but here goes again..

Back in 1970 I saw them at a club in Milwaukee called The Scene; they opened for Savoy Brown, who was the reason I went. Well, they were pretty good killer Brit blues with a wild man on lead guitar named Stan Webb. No Christine Perfect at that point, but that was fine by me as I was (still am) enamored of guitar driven boogie and blues, so she might have been a distraction.

The irony of that show was that soon afterward lonesome Dave, Roger Earl and Tone Stevens all left Savoy Brown to form Foghat, and Kim Simmonds recruited the bass player and drummer from Chicken Shack for Savoy Brown. Not quite sure what Stan did after that though.
Well, this is fun! I was at that show, and also went because I wanted to see Savoy Brown. I would have been 17 or 18 at the time, and because it was so long ago, the memories are kind of "fuzzy" I've often referenced that performance as my first concert. I have, over the years, apparently mistakenly said it was at the Stone Toad. Happy to see that someone else who was there is still vertical.

Sorry for the glare, windows...

Christine Perfect's real claim to fame with this band, other than being a really good blues piano player, was her cover of Etta James' "I'd Rather Go Blind."

There is some wierdness with that cut on this LP though, it fades out before she is really done, almost like a poor bootleg. Anyone ever got the entire tune?
