Exile on Main Street -- what's the deal?

"Slacker"

You nailed my "Slacker" reference. The cat in the cab in Scene #3 (Linklater, I believe) uses the "Wizard of Oz" to talk about separate realities based on Dorothy's and the Scarecrow's decision to go a certain direction at the crossroads.

Exile on Main Street sucks and that it is truly an unlistenable collection of pop drivel :D

Maybe not sucked but was not as universally praised back in the 1970s as it is today....the general consensus was that Tumbling Dice was a classic along with a few other cuts...
Anyone here actually remember how it was recieved here when it was released in 1972? I am old enough to remember how big Some Girls and Miss You was in 1978-79. Rolling Stone was not very kind to it at all...however it is a classic today...I was too young for Exile

I was just funnin'. I've had Exile since it was first released along with Beggars, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, etc. They are all in constant rotation at Chez Finnbow. FWIW, all of my family's personalized ringtones are Stones songs. For example, my wife's is Honky Tonk Woman.

I thought "Exile" was the best thing since sliced bread when it came out. I mean...a Stones DOUBLE album? Twice the junked-out fun. "Ventilator Blues" remains a fave, along with "Sweet Virginia". I need a better copy.

Cool electronjohn: processing! Neat!!

You can have the old one or the new one.
I'll take the old one every time, no matter what it is!

With a couple exceptions: CD players and food.
