Hi All,
The four Yamaha models listed below seem to be well constructed, are 100V Japan only, and one even has an Optical-in DAC?!
A2000
A2000a
AX-2000 - has Optical-in DAC
AX-2000a - has one Balanced Input
Can anyone share their experiences with these units? There was a shootout thread between the AX-2000 and A-S2100, where an unrestored AX-2000 seemed to compare very close to the A-S2100.
This makes me think that the AX-2000 may be a good upcoming project, but i want to hear from peoples experiences first.
For example, do 120V to 100V wall converters deteriorate the sound in any way?
Should i be looking to transplant some type of custom 120V transformer in the unit?
Do these units sound super good and "musical", and not grainy/thin/clinical?
Any other ideas, inputs, observations, experiences and warnings are much appreciated!
